We called up a few folks at WSN to find out what they were thinking (if they were, in fact, thinking at all). Platt hasn’t returned our calls, and Cosgrove declined to comment. We also reached out to Brooke Kroeger, the director of NYU’s journalism institute who was once NYU Local’s advisor. She and Jay Rosen — who serves as the chair for WSN’s board of directors, by the way — also declined to comment, citing their “tangential” relationship with the paper.
Would like to clarify that we’re not “warring” with WSN on this issue, and the article linked here doesn’t illustrate a war either. It only suggests that WSN editors may have been misguided in cooperating with NYU Local on the subject of their supervisor, and that they allowed Local to get a pretty awesome scoop from them.
